Genesis
Ada Portillo
Through symbolic photography, poetic writings, and artifacts, Genesis reflects on how truth is discovered through nature. Because of mass media and over-consumption, our instincts are being numbed by glass screens, politics, and overwhelming and unrealistic social expectations. Mass media products are not just providing “services” and “conveniences,” they are also shaping who and how we define ourselves as human beings and individuals.
Genesis is a call to put down the machinery and systems that give us meaning and look at the truth of life that has been there all along – from the beginning of time to now. I mean for this to be both a reflection and challenge to viewers to get outside, look, feel, touch, sense, and think freely in God’s gift to humanity. What would life look like if we were more connected to nature?
