Laura's role of the executive director is to design, develop and implement strategic plans for the organization in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner. The executive director is also responsible for the day-to-day operation of the organization, which includes managing committees and staff as well as developing business plans in collaboration with the board. In essence, the board grants the executive director the authority to run the organization.[citation needed] The executive director is accountable to the chairman of the board of directors and reports to the board on a regular basis – quarterly, semiannually, or annually. The board may offer suggestions and ideas about how to improve the organization, but the executive director decides whether or not, and how, to implement these ideas.
Terry Fisher came on board as Director of Programs for BACH in October of 2014. He brings a wealth of experience from the workforce development sector in Baltimore City. He has over 12 years of experience working with various non-profits in the area including East Baltimore Development Inc. and Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake. His expertise is in the areas of community development and workforce. Terry recently received his Master's of Public Health Degree from Morgan State University and since coming to BACH has been nominated for and is currently participating in the Weinberg Sector Skills Leadership Academy. His passion for the advancement of people and excluded communities makes him a great fit for the job.
Principal of Quick Study Consulting, LLC, providing management advice to the not-for-profit sector. Previously, she served as vice president for external affairs at Baltimore City Community College and in several other capacities during her 11-year tenure. Barbara earned a master's degree in public management from the University of Maryland School of Public Affairs and a J.D. from the university's School of Law. Her work with BACH includes data analysis, strategic planning and career mapping.
