The word "perception" is defined as the state of being or process of becoming aware of something through the senses. With perceiving comes different ideas and allows communities to share their stories and passions, whether that be through words, images or actions. Due to COVID-19 safety measures, in-person communication has been limited and online interaction has become the new normal. Stevenson University’s Art and Graphic Design department has decided to move the experience of the senior capstone exhibition to an online platform to display the research, findings, and solutions of Stevenson students through design.
Today’s digital age has made it easier for people of all backgrounds to have a platform that gives them the ability to evolve through mutual interaction without having to be in person. Perception, when used with digital tools, has made it easier to globally present your ideas or experience. Because we are in a digitally dependent age, it is sometimes difficult to sit in the moment or experience and digest topics, as our brains can bounce from idea to idea, acting almost like a browser with too many tabs. For this event, some seniors had to reroute their projects and solutions to make it optimal for a digital space. Though we will not be in the same location, hopefully we can all be perceptive of each other, the stories that make us, and experiences that connect us.
